Noisy Paint Box - Presented by Emily Horvat

Published on Mar 28, 2015
The Noisy Paint Box tells the story of a young boy growing up learning to be a proper Russian. Vasya received a gift that would change his life; a paint box! The colors inside spoke to him with beautiful sounds which he learned to appreciate as he grew older. Kandinsky had a condition known at Synesthesia where colors have sounds! The Noisy Paintbox story tells of this unusual condition and how it effected Kandinsky's life in such a positive way.

Kindergarten Fish Drawing and Printing

We've been told to eat our vegetables, but this time we printed with them! Our fish scales were printed with celery! Very fishy indeed!

Teddy Bear Drawing in 1st Grade

These first graders drew their Teddy Bears on Friday afternoon before vacation. I abandoned my original plan, the minute I saw that I had double enrollment - a Teddy for every student! What a great job they did drawing from observation!

It's so much fun to open the kiln after a glaze fire!

This is a little preview of our upcoming event -
the annual Harrington Art Show
Wednesday,  MAY 25th!
Sound a little fishy?
Hmmm!

Here is a delightful example of a Kindergarten, self-portrait.

Students used a mirror to draw their face and then added a body! We talked about where the arms and legs are located and noticed elbows and knees etc... Each student took what they were ready for from our talk.

All of my students answered YES to the question "How many drew better than they thought they might?"!

Our background collage was created with tissue paper and glue.
